These pages explore new pathways of economic development for Northeast Ohio.

Content

The site includes two basic streams of content. The first, found the weblog,  introduces you to ideas that are being explored in other regions. These ideas may have application in Northeast Ohio.

Second, the site serves as a watering hole.  A growing number of reports explore the economic options for Northeast Ohio.  Yet, there's no easy place for us to consider these reports and their implications.

The 22+1 definition of NE Ohio

Northeast Ohio's regional 4 million+ residents. The region is larger than many states. That said, in an economy which depends on networks, the boundaries of regions matter less. You can see an enlarged map of the region in this page.

Comments welcome, no food fights

If you're taking time to read, you probably also have time to share your thinking.  Fire away with your  comments, if the spirit moves you. A word of caution: please be civil. The policy of this site is to remove comments that are inflammatory.

Take a brief tour of NE Ohio

Sit back and take a brief tour to orient you to Northeast Ohio. My brother, Hunter Morrison, prepared these slides for the first  Region Day that brought together leadership groups from throughout Northeast Ohio.

You can download the slides from this link:

Ed, I recently met with a reporter, who called me the mad girl.  Am I allowed to be mad, if I use lower-cased letters? :)

The comment says more about the reporter than it does about you.

    Some implications might be...

... A dashboard for making the fragments accessible. One imagines strategic doing requires strategic overview. An economic dashboard for NEO, based upon key indicators, would be a nice prerequisite for understanding the economic fragments from blog entries in context. And again, what others do is rather less than 1) What NEO applies  2) Quality of execution denominated in economic results

I'd like to see some hard headed concrete metrics put to the nice sounding ideas in reports. Would that be an "implication" as in the stated reason of this blog? That's a Pathway To Development.

... A bias for effective action.  Didn't Bill Cllinton have certain events where, if you were attending, you signed up for an actual program of action. ...Just sayin' one interpretation of "implications" is an action plan and a presumption of action ...built into the very fabric of everything you do.
